Meet The Founder

The EcoAfrica Foundation was founded by Engr. Uchenna Amalu, a visionary engineer and advocate for sustainable development, dedicated to promoting renewable energy, recycling, and reducing Africa’s carbon footprint.

Engr. Amalu’s experience living and working as an engineer in Nigeria exposed him to the pressing challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation. Reflecting on his early years, he recalls, "While in school, I tackled the challenge of unreliable power supply on campus by designing and constructing a mini hydroelectric generator to power the campus streetlights. That experience ignited my passion for innovative, sustainable energy solutions."

Driven by his commitment to environmental sustainability and his engineering expertise, Engr. Amalu established the EcoAfrica Foundation to "tackle Africa's environmental challenges through innovative renewable energy solutions, education, and grassroots advocacy." Under his leadership, the organization has implemented transformative programs that emphasize solar power adoption, community-based recycling initiatives, and carbon footprint reduction campaigns.

"The success of these initiatives underscores the fact that addressing environmental challenges in Africa requires localized, scalable solutions and a unified effort," Engr. Amalu emphasizes.

To expand the foundation's impact, Engr. Amalu is actively engaging in advanced research and partnerships to develop sustainable, long-term strategies for renewable energy and waste management across the continent. As he explains, "Through collaborations with international environmental organizations and local governments, we’ve demonstrated that grassroots interventions can drive meaningful change in communities and advance Africa’s transition toward sustainability."
